Everyone knows about Santa Claus and almost each country has a version of him. For the French he is called Père Noël (Father Christmas). Just like in any country he gives toys, candies and other gifts to good children. For the not so good children Père Fouettard gives them a spank instead of a gift. In 1962, a law has been declared that all letters to Père Noël should have a response. Usually this is done through a form of a postcard.
So there you go one of the French Christmas Traditions Père Noël.
